The “only reason” for Rayman Legends’ delay is to ensure a simultaneous release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Ubisoft has said.

Speaking with Digital Spy, a Ubisoft representative confirmed that there were “no issues with the game development,” and that “the only reason for the delay is to release on multiple platforms”.

Ubisoft confirmed yesterday that the Wii U version of Rayman Legends had slipped to September, and announced that the game would also be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The slip marks the third major delay for Rayman Legends.

The game had originally been due to ship alongside Wii U last November, before being pushed back to March 1, 2013 to allow for extra development time and ensure that it could “live up to” fan expectations.
