Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 has clambered its way to the top of the UK Charts following its launch on February 7, comfortably outpacing sales of the PS2 original in the process.

According to Chart-Track, physical sales of the remake were up 73 percent on the 2006 version of the game, which hit UK stores way back in February 2006. The figure does not include digital copies of the Bluepoint Games-developed remake, making it all the more impressive.

Shadow of the Colossus had previously received a modern update back in 2011 as part of the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection on PS3, although unlike this year’s remake that version wasn’t completely built from scratch. Interestingly enough however, the PS4 edition actually runs on the very same code as the original game.
