A document filed by Sega with The United States Patent and Trademark Office for the title ‘Sonic Rush Adventure’ suggests a product linked to the 2005 DS game Sonic Rush.

Though there are no more details than the name, the idea of a release linked to the 2D Sonic Rush is an exciting prospect for fans disappointed by the blue hedgehog’s recent 3D outings.

Rush is one of the most critically acclaimed Sonic games since the original Mega Drive releases, and a sequel on the DS would most likely be met with open arms.

However, it is worth noting that not all trade mark applications for video game titles result in a game being released, and sometimes are only filed to prevent misuse of a brand and its associated words.
