EA has announced the release date for melancholy adventure game Sea of Solitude, meaning the game will be seeing a digital release on July 5.

Last seen at E3 last year, Sea of Solitude will see you guide Kay through a flooded landscape as she tries to overcome her inner loneliness, which has turned her into a literal monster. As Kay, you'll use the environment and in-game weather to solve puzzles and to try and help Kay find herself and overcome 'emotional challenges' as you explore representations of her emotional and mental health issues around loneliness.

The game's been a long time coming, having first being announced in 2015 by developer Jo-Mei Games before it was picked up for a publishing deal by EA and announced as the second entry in the EA Originals program after Fe.

Sea of Solitude will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via EA's Origin store from July 5.
