Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 and World War Z developer Saber Interactive is officially working on its next game. While many were assuming the studio would work on Space Marine 3, the studio’s next title is actually an adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Saber announced Avatar: The Last Airbender game

With post-launch content in development for Space Marine 2, adding new operations and potential story DLC, Saber has also started work on its new Avatar game.

Announced in an exclusive reveal at IGN, the studio has teamed up with Paramount Studios to create a new experience with an “all-new, never-before-seen Avatar”.

After the close working relationship Saber had with Games Workshop for Space Marine 2, the studio will now be working alongside Avatar Studios. Founded by original TV show creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar Studios will make sure the game stays true to the themes and stories of the cartoon’s universe.

The Avatar game fans have craved

While details are sparse, Saber Interactive has revealed the game will put players on a journey to master all four elements to use in a new “dynamic combat” system.

“[Players] can expect to be immersed in a vibrant world, master all four elements, engage in dynamic combat alongside companions, and experience the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance in the world,” the announcement says.

The present release of Space Marine 2 and World War Z proved Saber Interactive was the right team for the job.

Doug Rosen, SVP, Games and Emerging Media at Paramount said in a statement: “Saber Interactive has a proven track record in bringing IP-based games to life, and we are excited to co-fund this AAA title alongside them and let fans experience this world first-hand.”

Paramount and Saber are very keen to sing the praises of the in-development project, hoping the title will help create “the biggest video game in franchise history.”

There is currently no release date for the new Avatar: The Last Airbender video game.
