S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl has a new gameplay trailer, showing off its grim and violent world.
During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we got a better look at the game in motion. This included some jovial gentleman strumming a guitar around a campfire, and then some stealthy shooting action.
Check out the trailer:
The description reads:
“From epic cutscenes and underground labs to open-world fields, here is the first look at the gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl.”
As you can see, it looks very nice—as much as an apocalyptic wasteland can, anyway. We get a good mix here of bombed-out buildings, dark forests, and skies like watery coffee. This is in keeping with the dimming vision of these games.
The first game in the series was S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl, which was received well. Reviewing the game for VideoGamer, Tom Orry said, “It’s hard to think of another game where the words ‘flawed masterpiece’ are so apt.”
What’s more, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is next-gen only, set to release on Xbox Series X / S and PC. It’s a good get for Xbox, being a cult classic series and having a sufficiently irradiated fanbase waiting with open arms.
They have a little bit longer to wait. It will be out on April 28, 2022, and it will be on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
