Rockstar has confirmed that Rockstar Vienna has been closed down. The development studio based in Austria was responsible for the Xbox ports of the GTA series. The news of a closure first came from a blog post by Jurie Horneman, a designer at Rockstar Vienna.

This morning, as I came into work, I was greeted by security guards,” commented Horneman in the blog entry. “It turned out Take-Two has closed their Rockstar Vienna office, effective immediately, “due to the challenging environment facing the video game business and our Company during this platform transition”.

Rockstar commented on the closure saying that “Employees will be offered packages in accordance with Austrian law, as well as other job opportunities within Take-Two and Rockstar Games where possible.”
