Rocket League’s Anniversary update is now live, featuring the new arena Champions Field, new customization options, the beginning of Competitive Season 5 and a sprinkling of Rick and Morty content to boot.

Champions Field is now available in all playlists and private matches. The Starbase ARC arena has also been updated with new visuals and reduced brightness. There have also been some engine audio, trails and goal explosion effects added into the customisation categories, which I admit does looks particularly firework-y and colourful.

The 1.35 update sees the start of Competitive Season 5, with a new Season Reward Level that will only give out rewards once 12 games have been won at each rank. Season 4 rewards are currently being sent out to qualifying players. There’s also the addition of the Overdrive crate, which replaces the now retired Champions crate. In the new crate, you can get more trails for your battle-cars. It’s worth noting that every player will have the Classic trail by default.

With the new addition of the Rick and Morty content, characters from the hit-series will feature in the game, in a fashion. Rick and Morty will feature as car antennae, and Cromulon, Mr. Poopy Butthole and Mr. Meeseeks are all collectible toppers. On top of that, you’ll be able to get an Interdimensional GB boost, and a Sanchez DC-137 wheel to snazz up your cars after you grab them in loot drops after each match.

There are a plethora of additions in the patch notes, which you can check out in further detail.
