Harmonix has released the first screenshots of its PS4 and Xbox One music game Rock Band 4.

Posted by IGN, the shots appear to confirm that the game will adopt a similar art style to its last-gen predecessors and reveal the return of the multi-coloured 5-lane note track.

The first gameplay footage will be revealed exclusively via IGN at 8pm BST on May 15.

The game’s campaign, meanwhile, is described by the site as a “Rock Band RPG”, with designer Alli Thresher explaining that Harmonix is “just working really hard at making everything feel like you are living this story, feeling what it’s like to be a musician playing gigs, playing shows.

“We want you to step up to the mic and interact with them, tell jokes, have them respond to your jokes, you know? Everything’s about all the stuff that all of us might have experienced, and want to share it with the people playing the game.”
