Capcom has released a grisly new batch of Resident Evil 2 gameplay footage, giving us our first look at the Lickers in action.

You remember those guys, right? They're basically Resi 2's answer to the Hunters from the first game, packing razor-sharp claws and an exorbitantly long tongue. Their brains are also exposed, which is lovely.

Needless to say, the Lickers are looking mighty impressive in Capcom's updated Resident Evil 2, with the spruced up visuals giving them a far more grotesque appearance than before. Their muscles glisten in the light, saliva drops from their gaping mouths, and blimey, look at the size of those claws.

From the look of things you'll need some heavy firepower to put these foes down, although one thing doesn't seem to have changed; Acid Rounds from the Grenade Launcher are still the most effective means of disposing Lickers. Good to know.

Resident Evil 2 is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 25, 2019.

Earlier this week, Capcom gave us a look at the new costumes available in Resi 2's Deluxe Edition, which includes a nod back to the original version of the game, colloquially dubbed Resident Evil 1.5.
