The Redfall preload period is now live, but you may have to free up some storage space in order to download it. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the vampire-themed FPS entry’s PC version takes up more than 100 GB so you may have to delete a few of your files if you want to play the undead shoot ’em up with your friends.

If you’re a current generation console player, you won’t need to free up as much space since it only reportedly takes up between 70-80 GB of your system’s storage. Those playing on previous generation platforms are even luckier since they’ll only need around 40-50 GB of space to pre-install it on their gaming devices.

However, once you’ve pre-downloaded it, you’ll be able to play the game as soon as the Redfall release date comes around. Just don’t get your hopes up on a performance mode as the developers have already stated that it won’t support 60 FPS on Xbox at launch. Fortunately, Arkane Studios has revealed that it will be added in a later update, though they are yet to specify when exactly it will be introduced.

But despite the game’s large file size and disappointing lack of a 60 FPS performance mode, early previews of the game have largely been optimistic so far. Most critics have praised the game’s storytelling, worldbuilding, and easy-to-grasp combat as some of its most appealing features. Hopefully, the positives that Redfall has going for it will be enough for people to look past some of the glaring omissions that it currently has.

If you want to take an ever closer look at its gameplay, then you can check out Bethesda’s deep dive video below. Redfall is set to release on May 2, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
