EA is looking to turn its Need for Speed video game series into a feature film, according to a report on Variety.
According to the entertainment site, the publisher is working with George and John Gatins (Real Steel) to take the game and turn it into a motion picture. Of all the major film studios, only Universal (who already has Fast and Furious) isn’t interested. Warner Bros., Sony and Paramount are all said to be looking to offer a figure in the low 7 digits.
EA is certainly doing its best to turn the Need for Speed franchise into a film. The latest title, The Run, included interactive cinematic elements. Many previous entries in the series featured professionally acted cutscenes, but they were often too cheesy to be taken seriously.
