Team17 and MakinGames is the latest bromance to emerge from the games industry, with the duo collaborating on Raging Justice; a flashy fighter currently in the works for PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Switch that looks set to offer a ‘fresh’ take on the genre.

The premise is a bit Streets of Rage-y. The action takes place in Big Smoke City; a metropolis that’s bogged down by an alarming crime rate, with thugs and all manner of unscrupulous individuals ruling the streets. The local plod aren’t much cop (ho ho!), and this, unsurprisingly, is where you come in.

Enter absurdly-named duo Rick Justice and Nikki Rage, two maverick police officers who take it upon themselves to clean up Big Smoke City by dishing out their unique brand of justice. The game plays with your preconceptions of the genre however, as while you can opt to just beat the crap out of anyone in your way, you can also choose to arrest them instead.

What’s more, each decision you make has an impact on how Raging Justice plays out. For example, arresting foes is overall a healthier option for the duo, but going in fists flying may offer more points in return.

Rick and Nikki have their own unique fighting styles too, and you can hop into a number of vehicles to help you out, from tractors to lawnmowers. There’s even a ‘deadly pigeon’ to harass your enemies with, which we can’t bloody wait to see in action.

As expected, Raging Justice is fully playable with a mate in tow, so you can team up together to restore peace to Big Smoke City or go it alone if you want. The whole game is presented in a unique art style complemented by lush high-definition visuals, combining classic gameplay with a modern aesthetic.

Raging Justice is due for release in 2018.
