The PS5 Pro has just been announced by PlayStation, with Mark Cerny keeping quiet about the pre order. Luckily, the console manufacturer listed a few details on its website that inform us when it’s available for pre-order.
The console has been long-awaited, and it’s been leaked several times too. Now that we’ve had confirmation of how much it’s going to cost, how it compares to the base model, and when exactly we’re going to be able to test it out for the first time, it’s also available to pre order starting from September 26th.
Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro start this month
The PlayStation blog states that the PS5 Pro “will be available at participating retailers and directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. Preorders will begin on September 26, 2024.”
Recently, PlayStation offered an update on which exact retailers it’s going to be available from. It said: “On September 26, 2024, pre-orders will be available directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com and at participating retailers in territories where direct.playstation.com isn’t available. On October 10, 2024, pre-orders will be available at all other participating retailers.”
Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro are likely to start shipping out closer to the release date, on November 7th.
Is it worth pre ordering the PS5 Pro when it’s available?
It’s a tough call. Historical events – the PS5 being virtually impossible to buy until 2021 – have proven that early customers have the best chance at picking one up, although it’s no secret that the micro-transistor supply chain has essentially healed to pre-pandemic days. This means that there’s a little less chance that these go out of stock when they’re ready for retail in November.
If you’re certain that the PS5 Pro is right for you, there’s no harm in securing an early pre order. However, our gut is telling us that there’s going to be far fewer stock issues when it’s out later this year. The PS5 Slim’s release reaffirms that idea, which saw a breezy launch hitch free from Stock issues.
There are no pre order bonuses for the PS5 Pro so far
Unfortunately, there are no pre order bonuses available for the PS5 Pro. When the 26th rolls by, we might see that change, though for now we can assume that there aren’t going to be any. As the pre-order is going to focus entirely on PlayStation’s own retail site, we could see third-party retailers bundling extra bells and whistles in, though only after October 10th.
