The PlayStation 5 Pro reveal went down like a sack of bricks once gamers were exposed to the console’s price. This was exacerbated with the price of the special PS5 Pro 30th anniversary bundle charging extra for nostalgia.

However, PS5 Pro scalpers are already blowing Sony’s asking price out of the water with confirmed pre-orders listed for thousands of pounds. Now you could definitely get a more powerful PC at these prices.

Scalpers chase the Limited Edition PS5 Pro

Following the launch of pre-orders for the new Limited Edition console bundle, scalpers immediately listed confirmed purchases of the machine for thousands of dollars. With an already exorbitant price of $1,199, scalpers are charging almost ten times the RRP of the bundle on services such as eBay.

One listing for the new console bundle is charging $13,373.49 for a reserved version of the console, more than ten times the bundle’s official cost. The lowest cost listing at the time of writing still charges a huge premium at $2,499.99.

Dozens of listings are already available on eBay, with many resting at around $7,000. Some of these listings are “confirmed orders”, complete with a screenshot of the order. However, others have not included any verification of their alleged confirmed order for the new console bundle.

Scalping still a problem

Just as with the launch of the base PlayStation 5 console, scalpers are the biggest issue for the new PS5 Pro. Despite the fact that Sony themselves have confirmed the console isn’t for everyone, scalpers are still aiming to make money off those who really desire the mid-gen refresh.

With the 30th anniversary bundle targeted entirely towards collectors with new special controllers and even a beautiful USB-C cable, scalpers will undoubtedly make some money from their huge price hikes.
