The latest PS5 beta has just rolled out for those signed up to the program, including support for 8TB M.2 SSDs, Dolby Atmos sound and enhanced accessibility options.

A recent PS5 beta introduced Discord to the platform before rolling it out fully to the official software for the console. This means we can expect the beta’s latest features to arrive for all customers fairly soon too, so if you’ve missed out on this beta – fear not.

One of the main features this beta has ushered in is compatibility with 8TB M.2 SSDs – meaning that you’re going to have a near infinite mass of storage that you’d be hard pressed to fill up any time soon. No longer will you be seeking out the best external SSDs for the PS5. This increases the maximum storage from 4TB to 8TB – excitingly doubling the capacity.

Alongside increased storage compatibility, the beta also rolls out Dolby Atmos sound. If you have a compatible sound bar, TV, or home theater, you’re going to be enjoying the best quality 3D sound on offer with your favourite games.

Aside from that, there’s more enhancements to accessibility and haptic feedback. One major feature is that you can now use two controllers on a single account, so you can “help a friend or child navigate a particularly challenging section of a game,” according to the official PlayStation press release.

Haptic feedback has been introduced to the PS5 System UI, and can be turned on in the console’s accessibility options. We’re going to be keeping an eye out for the latest updates, though for now you might be interested in reading about any PS5 Pro rumours we might have heard recently.
