PlayStation 4 consoles will be back in stock at retailers across the UK this week, Sony has promised.

The platform holder is currently advertising the stock replenishment in at least one national newspaper, advising customers to check with their local retailer for more information.

The hardware is thought to be the first batch of stock available since Christmas and possibly the first signs of the console finally being widely available off the shelf.

PS4 has largely been sold out since going on sale in November with additional stock snapped up moments after being made available.

The console had sold over 2.1 million units worldwide as of December 3, 2013.
