PlayStation 3 has sold over five million units in the UK, MCV has revealed.
The milestone was reached following a 138 per cent increase in PS3 sales thanks to the launch of the super slim 500GB model on September 28.
“It is fantastic that we passed the 5m mark,” UK MD Fergal Gara told MCV. “But most importantly to me is not the milestone itself, but the fact that there is momentum behind it. And with the new chassis, and the way the market is panning out this year, PlayStation definitely has the momentum.”
Sales of the PS3 are expected to remain strong as holiday buying gets in the full swing, further aided by tomorrow’s arrival of the 12GB super slim – available for £159.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
