PS2 Resident Evil 4 tops Japanese chart

Resident Evil 4 made its debut in Japan back in January on the GameCube and to date has only managed to sell 220,000 copies. In its first week on sale the PlayStation 2 version has surpassed sales of GameCube version with approximately 243,000 units sold. Making a new entry at No.3 is Monster Hunter Portable, which was very popular with those purchasing PSP hardware, selling a very respectable 114,000 units.

Sales of the top 100 games totalled 1,203,066, down on last week, but still well above the weekly average. Animal Crossing: Wild World slipped to No.2 in the chart, but the DS only title continues to perform well. Elsewhere in the chart there are new entries for Slime Morimori Dragon Quest 2: Daisensha to Shippo Dan at No.4, Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 at No.6 and SD Gundam Gashapon Wars at No.9.
