An HD remake of the original Postal is heading to PS4 and PC later this year, developer Running With Scissors has announced.

Titled ‘Portal Redux’, the new version of the controversial shooter features the original game reworked for modern-day platforms, complete with updated visuals and brand new content, including a new single-player Rampage Mode that challenges players to beat their high score by killing as many people as possible.

You can get an early glimpse at how the game looks in the trailer below or in the first screenshots.

“Even with all the noise surrounding POSTAL, gamers focused on the experience, playing the game by the millions, giving it great user reviews and helping us not only survive, but flourish,” said Running With a Scissors founder Vince Desi. “POSTAL Redux is a love letter to our fans.”

Postal launched on PC almost 20 years ago and attracted controversy for its gruesome gunplay, reportedly being banned in Australia for its “revolting and abhorrent content”. A first-person sequel arrived 6 years later and, like the original, was also banned in Australia.

An exact release date for Postal Redux has yet to be announced, but the game will debut on Windows, SteamOS and Mac this spring, with a PS4 release following later in 2016.
