Pokémon Sword and Shield sets up a 24 hour livestream of the Galar Region

Pokémon Sword and Shield has begun a 24 hour livestream of Glimwood Tangle, a corner of the Galar Region, for players to look out for old and new Pokémon who live in the woods.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will not include all the previous Pokémon in the series, because the new game will use a totally new engine on totally new hardware, and so priorities changed. 'Now we're well over 800 Pokemon species in the games, at Game Freak we really spent a lot of time thinking about what the best way to move forward was,’ Junichi Masuda explained. ‘We don't make fans wait too long for every new entry in the series,’ he said, after stating that the quality and diversity of the included Pokémon and the battle mechanics needed to be balanced ‘within a limited development time.’

The Pokémon in Galar have been revealed every so often with updates and news regarding the Pokémon Sword and Shield, but this livestream will surely show off some fresh faces. I am one of the over 70,000 people watching right now, and I’ve been watching for 40 minutes ish. Two Pokémon have been sighted, so that works out at an estimate of 50 Pokémon to be spotted over the 24 hour period. Who knows? But it doesn’t take much to convince me to gaze at the glowey forest with the hope of seeing a new Pokémon. 

‘As you can see, Glimwood Tangle is a strange forest where it’s always dark, and you can’t tell if it’s day or night,’ Sonia says on the official Pokémon Sword and Shield website. ‘The glowing mushrooms are the only source of light. But now, with a state-of-the-art camera with Rotom inside, I hope we will be able to capture what’s going on in the forest.’
