In yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Pokémon Sword and Shield introduced two new Pokémon, the Pokémon Camp, player customisation options, and more.

The two new Pokémon are Cramorant and Polteageist. Cramorant — not cormorant — is a Flying and Water type ‘mon and although it is a little dozy, it will never forget its bond with its Trainer. It is constantly hungry, and that quality lends itself to its form-changing Ability: Gulp Missile. After Cramorant uses Surf or Dive, it will return with a fish in its beak. If it takes damage while defending its snack, Cramorant will spit the catch at the attacker and deal a significant strike. Let it be known, Cramorant doesn’t share food.

Polteageist is a Ghost Pokémon who hides inside teapots. Its body is made from black tea with ‘a very distinct aroma and flavour’. I’ll bet, and I’ll also bet that people want to drink the haunted tea Pokémon. Polteageist will only allow a Trainer it trusts to taste the tea. See how strange that sentence is? Nintendo, stop making edible Pokémon. It’s weird. It’s so weird.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will also introduce the Pokémon Camp. this will be the home base for the player and their Pokémon to relax and play, strengthening their bond and improving their battling stats. Players can visit other Trainer’s Camps, and bring their ‘mons along for a meet up. Bizarrely, a curry cooking mini game has been added to the new game. Over 100 different curry recipes are included for players to rustle up with a range of berries and ingredients. Upon completing the Curry Dex, players will be bestowed the title of Curry Master.

Players will be able to customise their Trainer at boutiques and hairdressers. The selection of items available will vary across the region, and options range from tops, bottoms, and accessories like outerwear, to the little things like hairstyles, makeup, and eyebrows. And, the new Surprise Trade feature will randomly match Trainers while they’re running about on their adventures. Players choose a Pokémon to trade, and once a partner has been secured, the two will swap. It’s like a lucky dip, because the Pokémon is a mystery to both, which is an exciting surprise while travelling across Galar.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will launch on November 15 exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Watch the overview video below.
