The Pokémon Company has offered some new details on upcoming adventures Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and next year’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Lets kick off with the remakes. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has confirmed the return of your Pokétch (short for Pokémon Watch) which has a bunch of handy features. This includes apps such as the Dowsing Machine that helps you find hidden items, and the HM machine that lets you use moves like Cut or Rock Climb in the wild.

Amity Square also returns, letting you take a walk with up to six of your Pokémon. While walking, you’ll be able to pose for and take pictures with your companions as keepsakes. The game’s touch-screen focused Poffin making mini-game also returns. Using ingredients found on your adventures, you’ll mix and make Poffins which infer stat boosts on your monsters. Previously, you could only make them in the Poffin House, but the remake will let you make them in Amity Square too.

The Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer meanwhile introduces us to some new types of Pokémon we’ll encounter on our travels in the new Hisui region. Alpha Pokémon will be larger and more aggressive than regular monsters, and will be quite happy to chase unsuspecting trainers. They’re stronger too, so they’ll prove to be a challenge to take down.

Finally, we’re introduced to the concept of Noble Pokémon. These are creatures that have received a mysterious blessing gifting them power beyond any normal Pokémon. In the lore, some are very powerful and a few even help the people of the region. They’re looked after by Wardens normally, but something is driving them into a frenzy. Why exactly? That’ll be up to you to find out.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launch on Nintendo Switch on November 19. Pokémon Legends: Arceus meanwhile arrives on January 28, 2022.
