Sony’s PlayStation Vita, formerly known as NGP, is to be region free, Michael Denny, Sony’s Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe has confirmed – to the best of his knowledge. Denny was speaking at a PlayStation Vita session for European and Australian press at E3.
This will be the third Sony console in a row that won’t feature region locking for games, with both the PSP and PS3 allowing owners to play games bought from all over the world.
It’s especially good news for importers who are interested in getting hold of the PS Vita when it launches in Japan – the only territory confirmed to be receiving the handheld before the end of 2011.
