PlayStation Plus subscribers look to set to lose access to around 30 games this May, as several high profile titles – including Marvel’s Spider-Man – are being removed from the service.

The news comes in the wake of yesterday’s announcement of the PS Plus Premium and Extra free games for April 2023 which touted the arrival of a number of new games to the service, with the PS Blog briefly noting that “As part of our regular content refresh,Marvel’s Spider-Man, Resident Evil, and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will be among some of the titles leaving the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in May.”

However, Eurogamer has noted that a total of 30 games will be leaving the service this May – a fact discovered by heading onto the console itself, checking the PlayStation Store and heading to the ‘Last Chance to Play’ section in the PS Plus area. There, a huge list of games that includes the three aforementioned titles plus a number of others, such as Shenmue 3, Mighty No. 9 and more – all departing on May 15.

The full list of games, thanks to Eurogamer, are as follows:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man
  • FlatOut 4 – Total Insanity
  • Deadlight: Director’s Cut
  • Homefront: The Revolution
  • Mighty No 9
  • Red Faction Guerrilla Remarstered
  • Shenmue 3
  • This War of Mine: The Little Ones
  • Metro Last Light Redux
  • Metro 2033 Redux
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance
  • Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy
  • Left Alive Day One Edition
  • Star Ocean First Departure R
  • Balan Wonderworld
  • NBA 2K Playgrounds 2
  • Resident Evil
  • How to Survive Storm Warning Edition
  • Pixel Piracy
  • Last Day of June
  • Virginia
  • Dreamfall Chapters
  • TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2
  • MX vs ATV All Out
  • Tour de France 2021
  • Graveyard Keeper
  • Kona
  • Relicta
  • Windbound
  • Chronos Before the Ashes
  • Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition

Marvel’s Spider-Man is particularly surprising, given it’s a first party published by PlayStation offering. However, it seems to track with previous comments from the platform holder that alluded to the fact it doesn’t see its service as similar to Game Pass, and doesn’t want to guarantee first party games will always remain on PS Plus lest they lose their value.

It’s a double blow for PlayStation Plus subscribers as the PlayStation Plus collection is also set to depart the service in May. As previously reported – the bonus catalogue of games was a special perk for new PlayStation 5 owners subscribed to PS Plus. However, the slight difference here is that players can still claim the games in that package now, and will retain access to them once it’s removed. However, new PlayStation 5 owners will no longer be able to claim this collection.
