PlayStation has announced it’ll be adding VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support to the PlayStation 5 this week.

As previously revealed, the feature allows the console to dynamically sync the refresh rate of a display when playing games. By doing this, gameplay feels smoother as it minimizes visual artefacts like screen tearing. It also helps to reduce input lag, and on optimised titles allows for a clearer image on a compatible HDMI 2.1 display.

You’ll be able to find the new option in the Screen and Video section of your console’s settings after downloading the update. Supported games will already have the option switched on by default, but you can change this if you wish. You can also turn it on manually for games that don’t officially support it yet, though results may vary. You can check out more information in this Support page.

The PlayStation Blog has also revealed the first fifteen PlayStation 5 games to officially support the new VRR feature, and you can find them below. PlayStation says to expect more games to enable support in the coming weeks.
