Battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has revealed details of Update 12.2 which will feature the game’s brand new 8×8 map known as Taego.
The map—formerly known as Codename: Tiger—was first teased back in May. It’s set in 1980’s South Korea and is based around Hosan Prison. Most notably, the map features two new gameplay features; a self-revive item known as Self AED and a new Comeback BR mechanic that will allow downed squads the chance to return to the fight.
Update 12.2 also includes a new Survivor Pass named Survivor Pass: Taego with a bunch of new cosmetic rewards for players to collect, with bonus medals, emblems and G-Coins for those who progress the pass past level 50. The update will also see the game’s newest licensed vehicle, as players will get to drive in the Hyundai Pony Coupe.
To mark the occasion of the new update, there’s also a new live-action short film called Ground Zero set in the Hosan Prison of the map. Starring Don Lee from the movies Train to Busan and the upcoming Marvel’s Eternals, the movie takes place in the PUBG universe and has Lee playing a prisoner who makes a daring escape.
The 12.2 Update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Taego map is already live now on the PC test server, and will arrive in the live game on PC on July 7. It’ll then come to the console versions from July 15. Check out the Ground Zero short film and update videos below as well as the full patch notes over here.
