To celebrate the European release of Guitar Hero 5, countries across the continent will compete to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants to play in a single Guitar Hero session over a 24-hour period.

The record attempt will utilise Guitar Hero 5’s new Party Play Mode, which allows players to jump in or drop out, or switch difficulty level at any time without interrupting the jam session. Record attempts will be taking place simultaneously at cities in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Holland and Sweden.

You can be part of the record attempt by heading to HMV, 150 Oxford Street on Friday morning – full details can be found on the Guitar Hero 5 facebook page. The UK record attempt will be launched by the English No.1 singer-songwriter Pixie Lott.

Guitar Hero 5 will be available in the UK from September 11 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2.
