Konami has announced a free PES 2009 update which will include a host of newly licensed teams plus the ability to upload and share replays.

Arriving in approximately three weeks, the free DLC will update Spanish sides Athletico Madrid, Sevilla, Racing Santander and Valladolid, all of whom will be officially licensed. The DLC will also update the UEFA Champions League mode; twelve more teams will be added to the club list, with proper UEFA Champions League kits and kit markings. Amongst these teams will be Marseille, Juventus, and Basel.

A feature sadly missing from PES 2009 was the ability to upload and share replays, but this is something Konami is addressing with the upcoming DLC. A new Theatre of Legends function will allow users to upload replay data for friends to view, and view replays uploaded by others.

“PES 2009 is already a million seller in pre-orders alone, but these new additions show how we are determined to continually improve the content of the game,” said Jon Murphy PES European Team Leader. “We hope the updated team data and new UEFA Champions League elements will show our ongoing support for PES 2009’s team rosters, and look to continually enhancing such sections in the coming year at no extra cost.”
