The team director for the Persona series, Kazuhisa Wada, says Atlus will discuss “new games” in 2026 to celebrate the JRPG series’ 30th anniversary. Revelations Persona kickstarted the series in 1996, and now Atlus’ internal developer, P-Studio, is working on Persona 6.

Japanese games publication Famitsu interviewed 171 video game developers to discuss their ambitions for next year. As part of the ensemble, Wada says, “2026 marks Persona‘s 30th anniversary [and] Various preparations are steadily underway, and our plans are firmly on track, so all that’s left is to give it our all and see it through”.

Wada continues, “We’re preparing a wide range of initiatives on a global scale for Persona‘s 30th anniversary”. Although not revealing the developer’s plans, Wada says, “2026 will be a time when we can talk about new games such as Persona 4 Revival, so please look forward to it”. Translation of Wada’s comments comes from Genki_JPN, a news aggregator for Japanese games.

Persona 6 isn’t explicitly mentioned, but Wada’s allusions to “new games” could signal an announcement for next year. We haven’t had a new mainline Persona game since Persona 5 in 2016. However, the Persona series hasn’t been dormant as Atlus has released several spin-offs, such as Persona 5 Strikers, a Persona 5 rhythm dancing game, and Persona 5 Tactica, all while adding Persona 5 protagonist Joker to Super Smash Bros as DLC.

There are no substantial leaks for Persona 6, but reliable leaker, NateTheHate, assures fans that it’s “not in development hell”.

As for Persona 4 Revival, this is an upcoming remake of Persona 4 Golden. It was only announced in June this year, and it is a full remake similar to Persona 3 Reload, which we gave a 9/10 in our review.
