Per Gematsu, the official X account for the Fitness Boxing video game series has teased a potential collaboration with Persona 5. The tease was shared to mark the new year and arrives just one week before Atlus’ first upcoming announcement celebrating the Persona series’ 30th anniversary in 2026.

Fitness Boxing is a rhythm-based fitness series exclusive to Nintendo, featuring three mainline installments, with the most recent launched in 2024. The franchise has also seen crossover titles with Hatsune Miku, the popular anime virtual singer, and Fist of the North Star, the long-running Japanese manga series.

On January 1, 2026, the official Fitness Boxing X account posted an image featuring dialogue between two unspecified characters. The image mirrors the dialogue interface used in Persona 5 and, according to Gematsu’s translation, the Japanese text reads, “What are you getting ready for?” with the second character responding, “This time, I’m preparing a training plan that’s a bit different from usual. After all, stamina is essential for a Phantom Thief!”

In Persona 5, players take on the role of Joker, leader of the Phantom Thieves, a group that enters distorted palaces to steal the hearts of corrupt adults. The game has received numerous spin-offs already, including a rhythm-based dancing title, and has previously collaborated with Nintendo through Joker’s addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC.

Although a Persona 5 collaboration with Fitness Boxing is not officially confirmed, Atlus has announced that new information about the Persona series will be revealed on January 8. The date is highlighted on the franchise’s official 30th anniversary website and marks the first of several planned announcements throughout 2026.

Atlus has also stated that it will discuss “new games” during the anniversary year, fueling hope among fans that the long-awaited Persona 6 will finally be revealed.
