Rare’s absence from Microsoft’s E3 conference was both odd and disappointing. Having not revealed a new game since Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, the time seemed right to finally see what was going on behind closed doors at the studio. Things didn’t quite go to plan, though, with the UK-studio not even getting the slightest of mentions.

All hope seemed lost, but we were perhaps too quick to judge Microsoft. Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, the Director of Programming for Xbox LIVE, posted a twitter update confirming that the heavily rumoured Perfect Dark XBLA port was indeed at Microsoft’s E3 booth.

“In the booth. Just saw Perfect Dark on XBLA running 1080p,” read the tweet. “It is coming to XBLA this winter. Free theme coming tomorrow!”

So there you have it. That’s at least one game Rare has been working on. Maybe we’ll hear some more before the week is over.
