Fredrik Wester has reassured fans that development on Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is still ongoing.

Wester was responding to a question from a fan on Twitter on the status of the troubled RPG. “Bloodlines 2 is in development and we will let you know more when we are ready” his response read. He elaborated that “The game is in good hands and we look forward to showing you more when the team and the game is ready.”

We’ve heard very little on the troubled RPG since last year. It had already been a rocky road for the game, despite being shown off in a fairly advanced development stage during 2020. The game’s narrative designer Brian Mitsoda and creative director Ka’ai Cluney were both removed from the project that August. Things got worse by February 2021 when Hardsuit Labs were removed from the project and it was delayed indefinitely.

Wester claimed in an interview in October of 2021 that the game was nearly cancelled entirely. However, it was apparently saved by a pitch from a studio that the publisher didn’t name at the time other than Wester calling them “very reputable and talented”. He’s not said anything further since, so we’ll have to wait and see who’s taken over.

As for when we might find out, alas that’s another question currently in the air. In the Twitter thread, a fan asked if we’d see the game at the publisher’s annual PDXCon event. However, Wester replied in the negative, saying “Unfortunately not this time”. For now, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 remains, quite literally, in the shadows.
