Thundeful and Space Lizard Studio have unveiled Paper Cut Mansion, a roguelite with a hand-crafted cardboard aesthetic coming in 2022.

You’ll be playing as police detective Toby, who arrives at the titular Paper Cut Mansion as part of an investigation. Soon enough, you’ll be exploring the house floor by floor as you uncover the building’s mysteries and unravel its secrets. As you explore, you’ll also be collecting pieces of evidence that you’ll tack onto your Evidence Board.

Naturally, that means plenty of puzzles to solve, enemies to battle and quests to complete. You’ll meet an intriguing cast of characters both hostile and not-so-hostile, with the former offering rewards that could help you on your way. You’ll of course be able to find new abilities, new equipment and more as you make your way up the procedurally generated floors of the mansion on each run.

We’re also told that the game will have a unique dimension hopping mechanic. This will allow you to leap between alternate versions of the same floor with both aesthetic and gameplay changes. And of course everything uses this unique, hand-crafted style, almost with a sort of Paper Mario-meets Tim Burton vibe to proceedings.

You can check it out for yourself with the trailer below. Paper Cut Mansion arrives later in 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch & PC.
