Season 5 of Overwatch 2 kicked off recently and fans are already finding one DPS hero in particular is causing nightmares for other players. Whether you play as a Tank, DPS or Support no one appears to be safe from the changes made to Cole Cassidy in the recent update released by the Overwatch 2 team.

Overwatch 2 players have been deep in discussion surrounding the recent changes to the staple old western-inspired hero on the Overwatch Reddit. Airing their frustrations at the recent changes to the hero jorddo612 said, “He will likely play a role in the new meta as he can counter A LOT of heroes. AFAIK, it stops ALL movement abilities, whether on a cooldown or passive.”

This appears to be the case as well as jorddo goes on to note that “Rein coming in for a pin? Nade. Ball setting up a pile driver or trying to knock people around? Nade. Is Pharah/Mercy giving you trouble? Nade. Lucio wall-riding in a spot where he’d die if he fell off? Nade. Plus more!!” Continuing on in the post they say, “Cass’ new nade nullifies abilities of 23/37 heroes. 62% of the roster.”

Cassidy’s upgrade to his Nade ability certainly has some players frustrated and at times even baffled by Blizzard’s decision to make it that powerful. One user couldn’t get over the fact that a simple toss from Cassidy’s Nade could completely cancel some ultimates including Junker Queens.

Another post from a frustrated Tank player noted that “The Cass and Mei changes make playing tank a miserable experience.” Going into more detail in the post user Sobmeister asked, “Why would anyone want to play tank when the slow & no movement ability makes you a gigantic target that can’t get out of the fight?” Meister Continued, “Can’t play Doomfist, Ball, D.Va, Winston because you can’t retreat once you dive.”

With Overwatch 2 players furious as PvE missions are gated behind a paywall and the recent removal of two maps from the game Blizzard certainly has a lot of player problems to juggle at the moment.
