Blizzard has announced that it’s been forced to delay a major patch for Overwatch 2 that was set to arrive overnight – and return Mei to the game.

The update is set to be the latest major balance patch to the game, coming a couple of weeks after the Halloween event and was originally planned for November 15.

“Today’s patch is delayed as we work to resolve a critical issue,” they explained. “This includes the upcoming balance changes, bug fixes – including those that affect Mei – and core content updates we have planned for this patch.”

An update came a few hours later, with Blizzard confirming “We are now planning to release this mid-season patch on Thursday, November 17 at 11AM PST (7pm UK time). Thank you to our players for your patience as we addressed this issue.”

The delay to the patch has also meant that Overwatch League and Viewership Incentives and Perks from October 30 – November 4 has been held back until the patch is ready, as well as the regular rotation of items from the Overwatch League shop.

Mei was removed from the hero roster back at the start of the month to address an issue found with her Ice Wall ability, that allowed players to reach areas of the map they weren’t supposed to.
