Overwatch’s Holiday Events were always a fun way for players to celebrate a holiday by equipping different skins or playing whatever seasonal event was on at the time. While Overwatch 2 has had seasonal events since its launch, some fans miss the original Overwatch Holiday Events and “the good ol days.”

Overwatch 2’s microtransactions have been a problem since the game’s launch and one player has noted that it has negatively impacted the experience of Holiday Events. Taking to the Overwatch Reddit, user TridentLayerPlayer said they used to love the fun of the original Overwatch’s Holiday Events. They cited their ability to “roll the dice on seasonal skins that were locked all years” and their ability to finally spend some hard-earned coins they had been saving up.

Pointing to the game’s Halloween event in particular, they noted their love of seeing everyone in their Holiday skins but they just don’t get that same feeling with Overwatch 2. They said, “Now everything costs actual money. It’s stripped the joy of it. I don’t look forward to them anymore.” They continued, “Our legacy coins should be more valuable. Where’s the love for the player base that kept this game active during its decline?”

Other players shared this frustration with one player saying they don’t even look forward to the Holiday Events anymore because “the new skins I used to get hyped for are now only unlockable with the power of your wallet.” Others pointed to the lack of Legendary skins now available during Events with user ThePkBoi noting that there are now only “2-3 legendary skins for an event compared to the 5-6 we used to get.”

Overall, most players seem to be pretty fed up with the lack of actual in-game ways to earn skins in Overwatch 2. Some are even calling for the return of the first game’s loot box system. In other Overwatch 2 news, Overwatch 2 players can’t wait for this hero to get nerfed and Overwatch 2 has yet another game-breaking bug, map removal incoming?
