Developer Mobius and publisher Annapurna Interactive have finally officially announced Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye and dated the expansion for a September launch.

During the Annapurna Interactive showcase yesterday evening, creative director Alex Beachum was deliberately coy about what we can expect from the DLC. He did reveal it’ll be the game’s “first and only” expansion and will weave directly into the existing world and narrative.

Beachum also said that those who’ve finished the BAFTA award winning adventure‘s story may be wondering how or why the expansion does fit into the game’s universe, calling them both very good questions — but slyly doesn’t elaborate further. He did, however, offer a cryptic trailer up for the DLC which you can see below. Finally, Beachum also mentioned that the original game’s delayed Switch port is progressing well, and should be launching this Holiday season.

A listing for an Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye DLC was originally spotted back in April. Though at the time they didn’t confirm it, both Annapurna and Mobius retweeted the finding on their respective Twitter accounts and added the eye emoji, the accepted shorthand for “watch this space.”

The Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye expansion lands on September 28 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
