While Capcom is remaining notoriously tight-lipped on its upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake, the director behind the original 1998 survival horror classic is at least confident that the team will do a solid job on the project.

Speaking on Twitter, Hideki Kamiya revealed that his mate is now directing the remake of Resi 2, and that we should ‘trust him & wait for new information.’ Later on, he followed up by saying he met up with the game’s director and told him to ‘do as you like’ and that he has absolute trust in him.

Resident Evil 2 celebrated its 20th anniversary over the weekend, although you’d be forgiven for missing it, as Capcom couldn’t be arsed to so much as acknowledge the milestone on social media. The game hit PlayStation in the US on January 21, 1998 and later arrived in Japan and the UK on January 29 and April 29, respectively.

Capcom announced that it would be remaking Resi 2 way back in August 2015. The Japanese publisher later confirmed to VideoGamer that the remake would ‘capture the spirit‘ of the original version, but has remained virtually silent ever since.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is currently without a release date and platforms are likewise unknown at this point.
