Square Enix has announced that Nippon Ichi Software’s Rhapsody – A Musical Adventure, is to be released across PAL territories in spring 2009, exclusively for Nintendo DS.

Rhapsody is described as a musical RPG that offers fast-paced gameplay but is easy to understand even for those who are new to the RPG genre. This will be achieved through a simple and intuitive dual screen battle system and an easy to follow navigation map.

Rhapsody – A Musical Adventure follows the adventure of Cornet, a young girl who can communicate with puppets. One day, Cornet hears a rumour that the Royal Family of Marl Kingdom will hold a contest to find a suitable wife and Princess-to-be for the dashing Prince Ferdinand. Cornet and her best friend, a puppet named Kururu, set off on their quest to meet and fall in love with the prince of Marl Kingdom. However, things don’t do to plan and Cornet finds herself on a journey full of witches and sorcerers.

And how exactly is this a musical adventure? Square Enix notes the game will feature “loveable characters that will sing and dance during key moments”.

Look out for Rhapsody – A Musical Adventure in the spring.
