The demo of Criterion’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit has been downloaded more than two million times – a new record for the Need for Speed franchise – EA has announced.

More than two million people took to the street of Seacrest County in the demo between October 26 and November 9.

Some further facts about the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit demo:

– More than 700,000 posts to the Speed Wall

– More than 5M Autolog Recommendations sent from friend-to-friend

– 54M miles of road raced

– 20M cop busts executed

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will launch in the UK on November 19 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

With positive review scores and a popular demo, Hot Pursuit looks set to be a hit for EA and Criterion. However, buzz around the demo was mixed which some gamers coming away from the sampler unimpressed. We’ll have to wait until later this month to see whether or not sales match up to the record-breaking demo.
