Resident Evil 2 has been getting a fair amount of treatment from the modding community since launching on January 25. First there was the classic camera mod, which introduces the fixed angles from the original 1998 release, and then someone gave it a first-person view makeover.

Now, we've got something a little different via NexusMods: a retro-inspired user interface. This does exactly what it says on the tin, namely implementing the classic '98 sound effects, profile pictures, and inventory system. There's the old-school portraits of Leon and Claire, the blue-tinted item screen, and the iconic red 'Resident Evil 2' font used in the original game.

Combine this with the soundtrack swap that's available in Resident Evil 2 already, and you're wading in nostalgia. It's brilliant.
