Ubisoft has announced the holiday 2008 release of Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, a Nintendo DS exclusive which has been designed to compliment the all-new consoles and PC Prince of Persia.

The game will feature an independent storyline and utilise the stylus controls of the Nintendo DS to deliver acrobatic and combat action. The Prince, facing imminent danger, flees to a deserted kingdom that seemingly offers sanctuary. However, the land has already been touched by the evil Corruption, a dark substance that physically contaminates the land and the skies.

As the Prince fights the spreading Corruption from destroying the land he encounters a partially infected creature that promises salvation. Is this creature truly an ally or an enemy in disguise? The creature, known as the Magus, will also be a playable character with players able to switch between it and the Prince.

The game is in development at Ubisoft’s Casablanca studio and will feature a brand-new art design and over 50 maps to play through, including deserted cities, dark labyrinths and jungles.

Prince of Persia: The Fallen King is scheduled for release in holiday 2008 only on Nintendo DS.
