Racer Need for Speed Payback is set to see the launch of its first content pack tomorrow, alongside a few updates for all owners of the game.

As announced on the Need for Speed blog, the Speedcross update will add a new event taking place on a closed course, where drivers are marked for points on things like drift zones, jumps and speedtraps. There’ll be sixteen events taking place across four zones. The pack will also contain two new cars in the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman and the Infiniti Q60 S. The Speedcross pack will be available to Deluxe Edition owners of the game, or purchasable as DLC for everyone else.

Meanwhile, there’s also some free updates coming for everyone as Abandoned Cars are set to be added to the game over the coming weeks, starting with the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R. You’ll have to track these cars down, then escape the cops in said car in order to be able to add it to your collection.

Furthermore, EA is adding a new game mode in the form of Drift Run in the Speedlists multiplayer portion of the game. Based on the single player mode’s Drift Trials. There’ll be ten of these for you and up to seven other players to take on online. Finally, some new performance parts are to be added to BMWs, and I’ll refrain from getting into too much detail here before I expose my ignorance of cars, but you can find the full list in the post.

Both the free and paid for additions for Need for Speed Payback will make their way into the game from tomorrow, December 19, which will also see Steering Wheel support added into the game with the Logitech G29 and the Logitech G920 on all platforms.
