Need For Speed developer Ghost Games has formed a new team in Bucharest, Romania, the studio’s website has revealed.

The website now lists three Ghost Games studios – Gothenburg, Guildford and Bucharest – with each team expected to be collaborating on future Need For Speed titles.

What isn’t clear, however, is whether EA has transformed its existing Romanian office into a Ghost studio, or whether it has simply formed a new Ghost team within the same building. VideoGamer.com has contacted EA for further clarification.

Ghost Games opened in 2011 under the name EA Gothenburg before going on to release its first game ‘Need For Speed Rivals’ two years later.

Burnout developer Criterion also splintered off to form a UK-based Ghost studio in 2013, with its remaining employees going on to work on a new extreme sports open world racer.

A new Need For Speed title from Ghost is expected to release later this year.

UPDATE 27/03: In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com, EA confirmed that “Ghost Games main studio is in Gothenburg, with teams also in Guildford and Bucharest”.
