A big theme of Season 3 in NBA 2K23 is the holiday and winter season. NBA basketball on Christmas Day is a special tradition that brings families and friends together to watch some of the best teams and stars battle it out on the court.

Well, NBA 2K23 wanted to cater their own holiday flare, and did just that by providing a lot of great new features and content fans can dig into and enjoy.

Let’s have a look at all the important details.

MyCAREER

As noted above, the holiday and winter season played a big role in the changes NBA 2K23 is bringing to Season 3. From new frosty court designs to the decorated layouts throughout both The City and The G.O.A.T. Boat, fans will also be able to rock ice cold new REC uniforms and have the chance to unwrap a variety of new prizes they can receive from the season rewards ladder.

In Season 2, the Jabbawockeez outfit was the ultimate Level 40 prize players could secure from the rewards ladder. But in Season 3, NBA 2K23 is introducing a festive Santa outfit that current-gen console users will be able to unlock at Level 40 while next-gen players will be able to secure it at Level 39. To go along with the new Santa outfit, Season 3 will also be home to new City Edition uniforms while Canada Goose gear is making its debut appearance in the game as well.

For next-gen players curious about what their Level 40 reward is, you will be receiving what NBA 2K23 calls ‘Core Badge Patterns‘. To clarify, Core Badge Slots don’t require any badge points, allowing fans to allocate those points to different areas they want to improve. In order to put a badge into a core slot, you have to equip it and complete its core challenge first.

The catch though in Season 3 is that now you can change the pattern of your core badge slots. Upon reaching Level 40, you will be able to unlock the following four patterns, with more to come over the course of the year:

  • 2 Finishing, 1 Playmaking, 1 Defense/Rebounding
  • 2 Shooting, 1 Playmaking, 1 Defense/Rebounding
  • 1 Finishing, 2 Playmaking, 1 Defense/Rebounding
  • 1 Finishing, 1 Playmaking, 2 Defense/Rebounding

Along with a variety of other awesome rewards you can unlock in NBA 2K23’s Season 3, comes a new ‘Magic Carpet’ vehicle, which is bound to be a big hit to cruise around on in The City or in The G.O.A.T. Boat.

MyTEAM

One of the coldest prizes and ultimate rewards you can secure in MyTEAM come Season 3, will be that of the Level 40 Galaxy Opal 97 Overall Trae Young card. To get started on your MyTEAM rewards ladder quest, fans will get a Free Agent Damian Lillard card at Level 1 just by entering the Season 3 menu.

NBA 2K23 is also providing a fresh new neon green design to their Accession Board and for their MyTEAM Draft Mode as well. While we’re on the topic of the Draft Mode, NBA 2K23 decided to add position packs that consist of a single gem color. Previously, position packs would have a variety of gem colored players, leading fans all too often to select higher overalls over fit.

But debatably the biggest update coming to Draft Mode, is that reward player cards will now for the first time ever be available to choose from alongside the latest card releases. Whether its one of the Takeover players or the Trophy Case Pink Diamond stars, you will now find one of these players in your position packs and will be able to use them starting tomorrow.

Lastly, all five of the existing Domination 99 Star Rewards will receive evolution updates. In other words, Amethyst Randle, Diamond Richmond, Bibby, and Walton, as well as the Pink Diamond Havlicek card, will become much better upon completing their evolution requirements. Domination remains to be one of the best ways to earn Trophy Case event cards as well, and NBA 2K23 chose to add three Dark Matter players to their Season 3 collection, in Julius Erving, Tim Duncan, and Larry Bird.
