2K Sports has dropped some more information on the Jordan Challenge mode, coming to NBA 2K23 when it launches next month.

If you’re unaware, the fan-favourite mode is making a return from NBA 2K11. It’ll see players step into the sneakers of the basketball superstar Michael Jordan, tasked to recreate several moments from his legendary career.

However, it’s not just a straight upgrade from the previous mode. The challenges are being rebuilt from the ground up for the new game, and five all-new moments are being added. Check out the trailer below.

NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge mode details

The team has gone all out with the classic recreations in the NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge mode. The mode covers from the 1982 NCAA National Championship to the 1998 NBA Finals and each challenge is bookended by an interview with one of the people who were actually there.

To help with the retro vibes, presentational aspects will include stuff like video filters, giving an era-accurate grain effect. There’ll also be gameplay tweaks appropriate to each era too. For example, a heavier focus on the post and mid-range game for the 1980s games.

We’re also promised more “physicality modelled on the floor and in the paint”. As well as that, expect signature style upgrades for classic greats, complete with new jump-shot, layup and dunk packages.

NBA 2K23 arrives September 9 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
