One of the best features of the NBA 2K franchise, is the soundtrack and the diversity of music they integrate into the game that brings it to life. Whether its popular classics to new underground hits, this year NBA 2K23 provided us with a deep list of great artists that we can look forward to listening to upon launch next Friday.
A major theme that graces the NBA 2K soundtracks is that of the hip-hop/rap genre. Each soundtrack introduces bright new talents and veterans alike as they contribute to the latest sound of the NBA franchise. Front and center to represent that very theme this year, is none other than the legendary Grammy Award Winning hip-hop/rap artist himself, J. Cole.

NBA 2K23 Final Cover Feature: J. Cole
To honor the special impact the hip-hop/rap artist has formed with the NBA community, NBA 2K23 announced that J. Cole will be on the final cover of their new game for the DREAMER Edition. Humbled by the gesture, Cole shared his thoughts on the special opportunity he was granted to be a part of the next edition of the NBA 2K franchise, per 2K’s press release:
“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture,” said J. Cole. “It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game, but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the DREAMER brand into NBA 2K. There’s also more to come, so watch out for all things Dreamville and DREAMER brand drops during Seasons and for Bas and Elite in this year’s MyCAREER story.“
In addition to highlighting Cole’, NBA 2K23 is also featuring his record label Dreamville not only in the soundtrack but in the gameplay as well. In MyCAREER, two Dreamville artists, Bas and Elite, are tasked with helping your MyPLAYER befriend Cole.
