Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells has announced that the Twitter functionality found in upcoming PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2 has been temporarily disabled amid concerns that Twitter accounts were being spammed with status updates from the game.
“Some reviewers have had early access to the game and selected the option to update their Twitter accounts as they completed each chapter of the game,” explained Wells over on the official PlayStation Blog. “This has resulted in some Twitter feeds being updated multiple times an hour. We obviously want to provide the best experience for everybody, so for the time being we’ve disabled Twitter updates on chapter completions.”
When the game ships the option to enable Twitter updates from the game will be deactivated (even if the menu option is enabled), but will be re-activated at a later date with a limit on update frequency.
Uncharted 2 will hit UK stores on October 16. Look out for our review today at 7pm.
