Nathan Fillion has revealed he's not convinced that Destiny 2's Cayde-6 really is brown bread, despite the fact Bungie has stated unequivocally that the Hunter Vanguard has kicked the bucket.

Cayde-6 meets his maker in Destiny 2: Forsaken, and is the catalyst for the expansion's main storyline as you hunt down his killers. But Fillion's having none of it.

Speaking to Kotaku in light of his excellent Uncharted fan film, the actor confirmed that he's not actually voicing Cayde-6 in Forsaken as he was busy at the time. Instead, Nolan North, who plays Ghost in the loot-driven shooter, has taken on the role instead.

'How do I feel about Cayde-6? I absolutely love him. How do I feel about that character dying? I don't personally believe it. He's a Guardian. He should be able to come back. I mean, that's their whole thing, they come back, right? The whole thing is the resurrection,' he said.

As much as I'd like to side with Fillion on this one, Cayde-6 probably is toast. While Guardians are able to resurrect, they can only do this with the aid of their Ghost, and Bungie's said that Cayde-6's floaty companion is dead too.

Fillion saw the funny side though, so assuming Cayde-6 is dead, he reckons there should be a prequel about numbers 1 – 5.

'In that case, my go-to would be, I'm really excited to work with Activision again and do the prequel of how we get to Caydes 1 through 5,' he joked. 'Cayde-6 prequel. That's what we need to start talking about right now.'

Destiny 2: Forsaken is due out on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 4. Expect more exotic armour and weapons to hoover up, a new PvP mode, and the return of Daily Heroic Story missions.
